Trimble Court was originally designed to be a street, not an alley. In 1904 Fort Collins widened and paved the alleyway to create Trimble Street, named after local businessmen Charles and Edgar Trimble. They boasted all new store fronts offering "oysters and waffles" as the delicacies of the day. Cigars were big and everyone wore hats.
In 1971, in a turn-of-the-century building on that very street a group of artisans, under the wing of Miss Martha Trimble, opened a co-op because they needed a marketplace for their work. Today Trimble Court serves as a pedestrian walkway and it once again enjoying the benefits of change. Now, the storefronts offer the fine arts and crafts of Colorado, while planters bloom along freshly paved walkways and strand lights shine above.
At Trimble Court Artisans Co-op, exceptional arts and crafts of the region are offered for sale to people who value handcrafted items of the highest quality. Many of the works uniquely represent the local culture as well as the personalities of the artist. Plan on spending some time in this historic setting that is relaxing as well as delightful, while conversing with the artists who share responsibilities in the store.
