Grace was born into an artistic family, which helps to explain why she has been passionate about art for as long as she can remember. She was introduced to pastels at an early age by her parents, who were professional artists. For her first art lesson, Grace’s father provided her with a set of 8 oil pastels, a homemade easel, and set up a simple still-life of an apple, banana and a pear in their home on Long Island, New York.
Her father (Tom Goodson) was a commercial artist who once worked for Disney. Her mother (Rose Mary Goodson) is over ninety years old and still paints regularly. A sister is an associate professor of fine art. Her other siblings are talented musicians and artists in their own right.
Grace has studied and worked in the medium throughout her life. .She paints a variety of subjects in an impressionistic style, with an emphasis on the effect of light and color. Her intention is to suggest an interpretation of the landscape or subject - so those who see her paintings will sense her love of the subject and feel that they can step into the picture for a moment.
Grace’s work has shown in galleries, businesses and exhibitions in Colorado. Her pastels and commissions are in private and corporate collections across the United States.
She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado, a member of the Artists Association Northern Colorado (AANC), and a juried member of Trimble Court Artisans since 2008. |
